25 Things About Me Self Reflection

My inspirations for creating this artwork were the loneliness I felt in a house too big for me.

I used markers, a pen, cardboard, and string for my media on my artwork. I made these choices because I had a fair idea of how I wanted my project to look 3D.

I intended for the audience to see the contrast between my room compared to the whole viewing of the house. I wanted them to feel uneasy with how bright the colors were and the string strung everywhere, but my room. I wanted people to see the piece from far away and think of my piece as a plain artwork until they got up close and saw the unnerving details.

My inspiration for creating this artwork was mainly from my own imagination as I went along, but I specifically made the rooms visible from the outside because I got the room setup from the Paddington movie, where all the rooms are set up like a dollhouse. I wanted the house to look like a dollhouse you would play in.

Some hard decisions I faced while creating my artwork were how I would be able to factor in my whole house into a drawing, while also showing how I'm the only one occupying my big house.

My difficulties were getting the perspectives right while starting the drawing. I worked through them by using a ruler and using my eye to "feel" if the angle/line is in the right place.

I feel like I did mostly everything better than I thought I would. I'm proud of my artwork. I would next time try to depict it more accurately, to my actual house instead of using basic furniture that's easy to draw.

My work involved no research.

I believe the most successful aspects of my work were the string and cardboard. Both of those items made the artpiece pop and look more personal and 3D. It made it look like an actual house with multiple factions or disparities between each room, with the string crossing the threshold.
