Despair of Disease

Project type

Bubble blowing

This artwork portrays the dead black cells in a body spreading into the healthy red cells. This artwork was made through bubble blowing and uses red and black paint. I used black india paint and red acrylic paint where I blew bubbles in a cup and put the paper on top of the cup lid to create bubble shapes on the paper. If anything, this artwork could portray the sad delving into something as bad as cancer and showing the internal struggle of the body. I wanted the viewers to be sad and really think about the cruelty of diseases. My goal as an artist is to create pieces with more universal meaning to them and I achieved this through the message in the painting. This painting helped me reach my goal because the trouble shifted the focus from me to anyone that can relate or has a family member that had something that killed them. I learned that creating something sad through and artwork subtly to the point you have to think hard is a much more refined piece then just outright telling the viewers how sad the piece is. This piece will influence me to create more artworks that don't look sad but are sad deep inside when you really think about it and create the piece for universal sadness and not my just my experiences.
